Kanturk Community Hospital is a single storey building, established in 1927, and accommodates 48 residents.

Services provided include respite, convalescence, palliative care and continuing care for low to maximum dependency adult residents.

Other services include psychiatry, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, audiology, dental, dietician and speech and language therapy.

The centre is wheelchair accessible and the entrance leads to the main corridor which runs the length of the building with wards at either side of the corridor.

The reception, administration office, Person in Charge (PIC) office and main nurse’s station is situated on either side of the main entrance.


There are five wards; Edel Quinn, St. Theresa’s, St. Mary’s, St. Patrick’s and St. Oliver’s.

Kanturk Community Hospital is part of the Health Service Executive (HSE) and is within the North Cork Community services.

The hospital caters for a large catchment area which includes Kanturk town and the expansive surrounding rural area.

The rural district of Kanturk comprises of 33 town lands and includes the more populated areas such as Newmarket, Boherbue, Banteer, and Nadd.
